Georgeous Sunset

This one is a keeper for my collection of glorious sunsets at Lake Michigan. I like the addition of awakening love that is shown as well on the breakwater.  The color is near breathtaking!  Could this be an impending proposal of love?

The stillness of the lake reminds me of total peace which should be the foundation of any relationship.  Not to mention the reflecting love that each has for the other.  I know for a fact that Lake Michigan sunsets, not to mention sunrises, are very romantic.  Mike once set up for me an anniversary dinner on the sands just off M-116.  It was a wonderful evening that I will never forget.  Even our beverage of choice was cooled in the waters of Lake Michigan.

I hope that some of your memories are keyed to nature as well.  Perhaps you might share one or two by way of a comment.

Red Barn / Red House

  • This was my grandparents Old barn which has been razed several years ago. The new owner wanted to save the barn to make it into his new house but the Practical side of the whole thing caused him to reject that idea. Instead he did the next best thing. He designed his house to resemble the old barn. Now this house is up for sale again. You can see the similarity between the two buildings . For a time I was in touch with the previous owner . He wanted to honor the old building so much and I appreciate his efforts . But like our property , nothing lasts forever .

Flying Under The Radar

Gulls, ducks, and geese, Oh my! How majestic they are flying well under the radar as they almost seem to skim over the waters of Lake Michigan. They are truly a sight to behold and each and every time I witness their glide over the lake it leaves me speechless.

Gulls look for fish while ducks and geese provide their own honking system as they need it. I marvel at gulls feeding on dead fish that are washed ashore at various times of the year. They are almost so thick that if you were to join them they’d overwhelm you. It would be akin to those birds on the phone line in, The Birds.

I so enjoy the flight pattern of all the birds that frequent the lake as each is far different than the others. Even in high waves the birds almost seem immune to gusty winds. But at times they seem to be frozen in time making no headway over the prevailing winds. One might say that it is always “fowl” weather at Lake Michigan!

Deck View of Big Bass Lake

How’d you like to wake up to THIS view each and every day of your life? Like a Captain commanding his own ship from his bridge, this would be YOUR bridge over that of Big Bass Lake. Just below you can easily make out the sandy bottom to your beach. However, out of sight, is your boat dock.

So what are your plans for the day?  Some leisurely boating or perhaps an hour or two of fishing?  Or maybe taking in some hunting in its season?  Could the grandkids be coming today for a refreshing swim?  Or will you just be taking it easy with a cook-out with your loved one’s?

After all, the “Captain” does set the order for the day and as you imagine what those orders might be your eyes can behold the full glory of Big Bass Lake which should make those decisions ever so easily to conceive.
