Haunted Island Up Close

There’s something about this island that is unnerving. Its 90% forested. One cottage is on the southeast side of the island but for the longest time Haunted Island was deserted. There was an old house in the near center of the island with a small Indian graveyard to its north. You could row around this entire island and be impressed how foreboding it was. Fully tree lined with several downed trees in the water made for moments of fear. From the shoreline you could hear the sounds of loons filtering through the air. Who or what really inhabits this island?

The property line here for my grandfather Joe Noreika Shows one-half of the Haunted Island was his. It should have stayed in the family name.

A House Designed for Physical Fitnessa

After a nice day of speed boating or swimming in Big Bass Lake begins a toil of labor just getting back to your cottage. Check out that long bridge walkway to an unseen house. What an elaborate walkway! It makes one wonder just what kind of a cottage or mansion lies at its end?

That I don’t have for you but I am impressed with that wooden bridge. Just getting to and from your dock is a good exercise in physical fitness. Say, maybe Jack LaLanne lives there?

I am the Tallest one Here

I am the tallest one in this picture and it was my freshman basketball team at Wabash High School. I am 6 foot 10 inches tall. My nickname in high school was Twigs because I was so thin. I had a shot that I could flip the basketball from behind my back into the hoop on a pretty regular basis but never in a game. My best friend is also in this picture who now lives in Atlanta Georgia and his name is Keith Bishop. His father operated the Wabash Country Club. Those were the good old days.

Shivering Timbers Roller Coaster

Opening today in Muskegon County is Michigan Adventure and it’s all wooden roller coaster, Shivering Timbers. I’ve got a surprise for you. No matter where you live you’re going on a roller coaster ride now.shivering Timbers Now what did you think about that ride? The Park is open now so you can experience the thrills in person whenever you can get there! Have fun!

Dangerous Lake Michigan

Due to the amount of snow and ice last winter plus an extremely wet spring all five of the Great Lakes have exceeding water amounts so shorelines are decreasing. Soon you may need a pier to reach your original pier! High waves and dangerous undertows are playing havoc with swimmers and boaters alike. Between Ludington and Manistee the water temperature is still only 56 Degrees, cold for this time of year. Take all safety precautions on any trip to the lake.

A Clear Beautiful Day at Big Bass Lake

The only thing wrong with a clear beautiful day at Big Bass Lake is that the temperatures are always much colder. Cloudy days are never that cold. Of course if this picture were taken in the summer, the opposite would be taking place. Warmer rather than colder. Its really quite odd? Living on the shores of Big Bass Lake can turn one into a philosopher.
