At this time of year, the leaves at the Noreika farm and forest were at their peak. Some had already begun to fall and the crunch of the leaves could be heard whenever hiking in our forest. The colors were spectacular with oranges, browns, reds, and even some greenery on some trees added to the colorful mix. When rowing on Big Bass Lake it was even more spectacular as the lake reflected all the colors right back at you.
When I was younger I remember rising to the aroma of Ralston wheat cereal along with the aroma of cinnamon buns. My grandmother’s kitchen was also filled with delightful aromas and good things to eat. I also remember going out to our old well and drawing up some ice cold water to go with the morning breakfast. One of her modern ways was to add Tang to that icy water.
This photograph was taken from Big Bass Lake Road taking in both our field and forest and fairly close to where Noreika Road joined with Big Bass Lake Road.
