Every Wednesday night our Senior boys of the Joplin Boys Club had a Coco-Cola Shoot Out. This was a 40 minute game with a running clock and no time-outs. There was a ten-minute half-time. The boys also had to call their own fouls.
The guys seemed to like this weekly game and the winners were treated to a can of Coca-Cola. There was a scorekeeper to keep track of the score. I think the guys liked the last few seconds of each half best as each player wanted that final shot at the buzzer.
Each team was allowed seven players. There were four teams in all and standings were kept for a four-month season. The game started promptly at 7:30 pm every Wednesday evening and was often well attended by other club members of all ages. There was also a summer season but then the games were played at 3:00 pm due to daytime summer hours.
