The Hoffman Estates Boys Club Michigan Trip

When I took the Hoffman Estates Boys Club north from that suburb of Chicago to our family farm in Michigan the weather was somewhat chilled so we rented a cottage on the Little Manistee River. As you entered the cottage, you walked into a small kitchen. Just to the right was a nice sized living room with both a bathroom and bedroom off to the side.
Outside a sandy road led to the cottage about a mile and a half off of Big Bass Lake Road. Behind the cottage and under the bedroom was a cement platform just above the river where one could grill burgers. Stairs led down to that area. However it was plagued with mosquitoes the majority of the day.
Our family farm was about three miles away and we took several hikes in our woods plus another lengthy walk down the Bloody Antler’s Trail. The boys swam on our wooded beach as well as in Ludington on that trip as a couple of days were warm enough to do so.
On our companion site there are many more stories about our boys club trips to the family farm.
